DataSpace was awarded Tier III Certification of Operational Sustainability–Gold by the Uptime Institute for the third time, confirming the exceptional reliability and resilience of its data center

Following a multifactor audit and review of DataSpace’s operations, the Uptime Institute confirmed the outstanding quality of the DataSpace data center’s staff and production processes by awarding it Tier III Certification of Operational Sustainability—Gold for the third time. The Uptime Institute particularly emphasized the data center’s maturity and performance during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The company’s resilience, including in the face of external challenges such as the pandemic, is the result of analysis, planning, management and implementation of a series of vital measures. These include steps taken to ensure the continuity of production processes and service provision, and measures put in place to protect the health and safety of employees, customers, partners and guests.

«This certification confirms the operational sustainability of the DataSpace data center, where Tier III-level engineering infrastructure is pushed to the limit of its potential. The Uptime Institute’s audit on May 22–28, 2020 reviewed DataSpace’s outstanding management and operational procedures, the design of the building, and the low level of risk on-site. Following these procedures and reducing on-site risk is a proven way of minimizing the likelihood of human error, which is the single most common reason why data centers experience outages,»
— says Alexey Solodovnikov, Managing Director of the Uptime Institute in Russia and the CIS.

DataSpace data center underwent this certification process to replace its previous Tier III Certification of Operational Sustainability, which expired on June 29, 2020. The new certification is valid until June 4, 2023.

«DataSpace emerged with an even better result than in 2017, scoring 97.42 points in the audit compared to 97.03 points three years ago. The certification process held no surprises for us, as we strictly adhere to our data center’s rules and regulations every day. With no interruption to our productivity, we demonstrated the way we were carrying out routine activities to the Uptime Institute, and talked them through the details of the jobs we were doing,»
— says Nikolay Shemetov, Technical Director at DataSpace.

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 certification process was conducted in two stages. During the first stage, DataSpace uploaded all the necessary documentation in electronic form to a secure server. This documentation was then checked by consultants from the Uptime Institute, and a joint video conference held. The second stage took place a few days later, in strict compliance with the data center’s rules for minimizing the risk of COVID-19 transmission and infection. It consisted of an in-person inspection of the data center, demonstrations of work processes by the operations team, customer support service and IT department, and in-depth examination of staff workloads and numerous other no less important issues and processes.

DataSpace (www.dataspace.ru) is Russia’s leading operator of commercial data centers, providing a guaranteed level of service and superior reliability and security for the deployment of critical IT infrastructure belonging to Russian and international companies.
